Editorial policy

Editorial policy: how we check facts

What we rely on, what we refuse to publish and how the numbers on this site are produced.

Sources we use

  1. The vendor’s own material. Prices, guarantee terms, package contents and quoted claims are taken from the vendor’s sales page and order section. Each page states the date we last read it.
  2. The ClickBank marketplace listing for listing date, category, billing type and affiliate terms.
  3. Government and standards bodies for water use, emergency guidance, appliance ratings and energy prices: the EPA, Ready.gov, ENERGY STAR, the National Weather Service, the Energy Information Administration and NSF/ANSI standards.
  4. Peer-reviewed research where a marketing claim cites science.

We link to sources at the foot of each article. We do not treat other affiliate sites, press releases or anonymous forum posts as evidence.

How output and cost figures are produced

We have not bench-tested the device. Every gallons-per-day and cost-per-gallon figure on this site is an estimate from one model, published in full on the calculator page. It starts from the rated efficiency of compressor dehumidifiers and adjusts for temperature and humidity. We describe these figures as modeled or estimated wherever they appear, and we state the model’s margin of error, roughly 30%.

How we score products

Our editorial score is the plain average of five criteria, each from 1 to 5: underlying science, accuracy of marketing claims, price and refund terms, fit for the stated purpose, and value as a preparedness project. The table of scores and reasons is on the review page. Because we have not built from the guide, we do not score the manual’s writing or drawings, and we do not attach star-rating markup to our pages for search engines.

What we do not publish

  • Customer testimonials or “verified buyer” quotes we cannot verify.
  • Aggregate star ratings or review counts with no traceable source.
  • Claims that we are the official website or the manufacturer.
  • Countdown timers, fake stock levels or invented discounts.
  • Pages copied or paraphrased from the vendor’s sales letter.
  • Content from the paid manual itself.

Independence

We earn affiliate commissions, as explained in the disclosure. Commissions do not buy conclusions. The vendor does not see our articles before publication and cannot request changes. Where the evidence says a reader should not buy, we say that.

Use of AI tools

We use software tools, including AI assistants, to help with research, drafting and calculations. Carter Bango checks factual statements against their sources before publication and is responsible for what appears here.

Updates and corrections

Product facts are re-checked whenever the vendor’s page changes and at least every six months. The “updated” date at the top of an article changes only when its content changes. To report an error, email contact@waterfreedomsystemplans.com with the page address and the source for the correction.
